Andy the Library Cat

It is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that Andy the Library Cat has crossed the Rainbow Bridge this month at the age of 14.
His original owners, the Amie and John Hausmann Family, rescued him as a tiny kitten from the middle of a busy road before they moved to Schoharie. One summer day, Andy strolled into the Library and announced his intention to visit whenever he pleased. Since he was a very sociable animal and loved to be around people (especially kids), whenever there was a library event, he made it his business to come and see what was going on. Patrons let him in and out of the door; he was photographed by visitors from abroad and has his own set of photos at Flickr. Over a decade ago, he adopted Ruth Anne and John Wilkinson and lived with them happily ever after.
I would like to fill Andy’s basket here at the Circulation Desk with items to donate in his memory to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley. If you can help, please bring in a can of cat food or a cat toy to help make another cat’s life as happy as Andy’s.

Hope for the Homebound Drop Box

We were chosen to host one of the SALT/VISTA/Schoharie County Office of Emergency Services  Hope for the Homebound local collection boxes.  These agencies are assembling at least 200 Emergency Ready Kits for homebound residents of Schoharie County.  Of the 29 items listed on their website that are needed, we are asking you to bring in donations of pencils (sharpeners, too?!?), markers, toilet paper, AAA batteries, hand sanitizer, and insect repellant.  The box is on the table right next to the door to make it even easier!

Thank you,
Cathy

Borrow EBOOKS from the library!

Borrow EBOOKS from the library! All you need is your library card! Visit mvls.lib.overdrive.com today.
The library system's eBook and eAudiobook vendor, Overdrive, has launched a challenge – the mission during June is to grow checkouts to beat the best month on record for circulation. If member libraries can increase the circulation this month by 25% over the highest circulating month to date, the System will get a hefty credit towards the purchase of new content ($1500 in free ebooks and eaudios) for everyone to share.
