It
is with a heavy heart that I must tell you that Andy the Library Cat
has crossed the Rainbow Bridge this month at the age of 14.
His
original owners, the Amie and John Hausmann Family, rescued him as a
tiny kitten from the middle of a busy road before they moved to
Schoharie. One summer day, Andy strolled into the Library and
announced his intention to visit whenever he pleased. Since he was a
very sociable animal and loved to be around people (especially kids),
whenever there was a library event, he made it his business to come
and see what was going on. Patrons let him in and out of the door; he
was photographed by visitors from abroad and has his own set of
photos at Flickr. Over a decade ago, he adopted Ruth Anne and John
Wilkinson and lived with them happily ever after.
I would like to fill Andy’s basket here at the Circulation Desk with items to donate in his memory to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley. If you can help, please bring in a can of cat food or a cat toy to help make another cat’s life as happy as Andy’s.
